Tax season in France is here again! It’s that time of year when even the most seasoned expats find themselves second-guessing the process. Whether you’ve been filing for years or still feel a bit unsure, one thing is certain - navigating the French tax system can be complex.
At SOS Anglo, we provide tax return services exclusively for our existing clients. If we’ve helped you before, rest assured - we’re here to assist you again, making sure your 2024 French tax return is accurate and stress-free.
Key Dates for the 2024 French Tax Return
The declaration for 2024 income opens on 10th April 2025. Here’s what you need to know:
Paper returns (first-time filers): Deadline – to be confirmed, but likely to be the latter half of May.
Online returns:
Departments 01-19: Deadline – to be confirmed.
Departments 20-54: Deadline – to be confirmed.
Departments 55-975: Deadline – to be confirmed.
Result notifications: Expect to receive confirmation by the end of July 2025.
First-Time Filers – Important Information
If you’re filing for the first time, welcome to the process! Even if you had no French income, a declaration is required. You’ll need a numéro fiscal (13-digit tax identification number), which can be found on local tax bills like Taxe Foncière. If you don’t have one, contact your local tax office to obtain it.
Returning Clients – Stay Ahead of Changes
If you’ve been filing for years, don’t assume it’s the same process every time. Tax laws change, and so might your circumstances - whether due to a new job, rental income, or starting a business. At SOS Anglo, we keep up with the latest regulations, ensuring your return is compliant and optimised.
Online vs. Paper Filing – Which One Applies to You?
Most tax returns in France are now filed online. However, if this is your first time, you’ll need to submit a paper return before gaining online access. Other exemptions apply to those with digital access difficulties.
Already registered? Just like last year, we’ll guide you through the online system, helping you avoid common mistakes that can lead to fines or delays.
Deadlines & Penalties – Don’t Get Caught Out!
Missing tax deadlines in France can lead to penalties. Wherever you are, be it Paris, Mayenne or Brittany, we ensure you meet your deadline with time to spare.
Need an extension? We can advise on your options.
